You Are A Vital Partner to Just Communities
Partnerships Make a Difference
"Just Communities played a vital role in our interpreter's professional development. Thanks to our partnership, the Mixteco/Indigenous Community Organizing Project (MICOP), was able to send 10 indigenous interpreters to the Just Communities interpreting for social justice training. Our of this training our interpreters developed an action plan to begin having our own indigenous interpreter network. We admire the work Just Communities does to create multilingual spaces. Access to language is a civil right, a human right, and we extend our deep appreciation for their ally-ship in building new language that will help build more Just Communities!"
-Arcenio Lopez, Executive Director, MICOP
Just Communities is often asked how we are able to accomplish our work with such a small staff. The answer is simple: through hard work and meaningful partnerships, all with the support of generous donors like you.
Since our inception Just Communities has built partnerships in order to realize our vision of a socially just Central Coast. Just Communities tackles big social problems. But no one organization can achieve complex systems change alone. Whether in schools, organizations, or communities our impact is magnified through partnerships.
Here are just a few examples of some of these partnerships:
* Just Communities' partnership with the Santa Barbara Unified School District through our Educational Equity Initiative has improved educational outcomes district-wide with the greatest gains in the schools where we have been most active.
* Just Communities' partnership with the National Federation of Just Communities of Greater New York has spread our expertise to three of Buffalo's poorest performing high schools and set the stage for expanding our impact across the country.
* Just Communities' partnership with the Central Coast chapter of The American Red Cross through our Language Justice Initiative has helped to ensure non-English speaking members of our community receive the life-saving information they need
during times of disaster.
* Just Communities' partnership with Central Coast Future Leaders is working to ensure every student in Santa Maria graduates high school eligible to attend a four-year university.
We believe that the key partnership that we have with you, our donors, is the connective thread that ties our work together across the Central Coast and beyond.
This year our goal is to raise $20,000 by the end of the year. One of our generous partners has helped to get us closer to that goal. They have generously offered to match every dollar raised through this year end appeal up to $10,000. Last year was our highest raising appeal to date, raising $7,000. Help us beat our record by raising the full $10,000 so we can meet our goal. The critical financial support you provide is part of what allows us to be an affective partner, creating a lasting impact in our community.
