Family Equity Workshops

Family Equity Workshops are a series of stand-a-lone 3-hour workshops designed to help parents/guardians better understand key equity issues that affect their children's education. Each workshop focuses on a specific educational equity topic and helps parents/guardians learn why this issue is important, introduces participants to key research and data, helps them understand how these issues play out in their children's schools, and provides resources and tools parents/guardians can use at home to reinforce these concepts with their children.

Each workshop can be conducted bilingually in English & Spanish. Childcare and meals are also provided.

Sample topics include:

  • Implicit Bias

  • The 3 R’s of Equitable and Effective Education: Relationships, Relevance, Rigor

  • Language Justice / Creating an Inclusive Parent Group

  • Restorative Discipline

  • Culturally Relevant Curriculum/Ethnic & Social Justice Studies
