Building A Common Language: Understanding the Foundations of White Supremacy, Anti-Blackness, and Anti-Indigeneity
The goal of Just Communities’ Common Language Workshop is to develop a foundational understanding of key terms and frameworks relating to white supremacy, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, and (settler) colonialism. The purpose of this workshop is to build a foundational understanding of key terms in frameworks to ground our future conversations in a common understanding.

The Language Justice Initiative Workshop Series
The workshop introduces participants to interpretation skills with a foundation in principles of equity and inclusion. The workshop includes skill-building in consecutive & simultaneous interpretation, ethical issues, the interpreter’s role, language, power, social justice, and creating an inclusive multilingual space.

Demystifying History:
A Community Teach-in on Critical Race Theory
Join Just Communities and UCSB faculty from Chicano Studies, History, and Asian American studies for a virtual panel discussion and Q&A on Critical Race Theory. Panelists will respond to questions aimed at building a community understanding of what critical race theory is and isn't, why culturally relevant history education is important at all levels of education, and how students, parents, and community members can get connected to more opportunities for learning and engagement
