WHAT WE DO
At Just Communities we work to ensure that Central Coast schools, organizations, and communities are places of opportunity, not places of limitation.
We advance justice by engaging our community in leadership development, dialogue, action planning, and mobilizing for social change.
We bring together community members and empower them to be leaders who promote equity around issues of race, socio-economic class, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, language, ability, and other identities.
We strengthen communities to create a more just tomorrow.
As youth and young adults begin to develop their own social identities and receive messages of exclusion, Just Communities provides opportunities for them to confront issues that divide their homes, schools, and communities.
Just Communities helps educators to increase their understanding of how race, socioeconomic class, and individual and institutional bias affect teaching and learning.
Our Institute for Equity in Education is residential program that explores institutional racism, educational inequality, and achievement gaps.
At Just Communities, we bring together diverse groups of parents and guardians,
those that don't often have the chance to collaborate, to collectively address issues of academic effectiveness and equity in their schools.
CUSTOMIZED EQUITY PROGRAMS
We develop customized programs and tailor them to meet the specific equity goals of schools, government offices, nonprofits, churches, businesses, and other institutions. Our specialties include organization development, training, coaching, leadership development, and action planning.
Our Language Justice Initiative aims to improve access to inclusive, effective multilingual spaces in order to remove language barriers, strengthen participation, and connect people across differences of language, culture, race, ethnicity, and immigration status.
